Loren,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your post. I experienced that panic you were referring to in your video last Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I was trying to upload my assignments onto Blackboard and my internet went out. I went to a nearby store and logged on and it took FOREVER, but I got my assignments in. On Monday and Tuesday, I was trying to get some information from Blackboard and the site was down. I was BEYOND frustrated. Nonetheless, I got what I needed eventually.
You mentioned in your post that planning is essential for technology integration to be effective -- I agree wholeheartedly! Day (2012) discusses the importance of teacher preparation when integrating technology. Effective multimedia implementation cannot take place without proper preparation (Day, 2012). Mitchell (2011) asserts that most educators who are unsuccessful with the implementation of technology into their classrooms are not profitable due to the fact that the integration of multimedia activities involves strategic planning. Unfortunately, most teachers want a quick set-up that is thoughtless...and that's NOT going to happen with technology...if you want it to be properly integrated. Jenkinson (2009) also discussed the need for proper teacher training, stating that teachers often try to implement technology into the classroom without fully grasping the how it works or in which context it should be used.
Thanks so much for your thoughts! I enjoyed your post!
Rhonda
